Best Ice Cream Spots in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee
"A breakfast mainstay in the trendy Old City neighborhood of Knoxville, where centuries-old factory buildings are seeing new life as art galleries and saloons, OliBea is as pleasing to the eye as it is to the palate. The sunny space, with hardwood floors and featuring local art, provides a relaxed environment in which to linger with locally roasted coffee and locally sourced ham and eggs. Biscuits are a popular staple, available by themselves, in Benedicts, sandwiched on pickle-brined fried chicken, or heaped with sausage, cheddar, scrambled eggs, and serrano jam."

"Victor Ashe Park is about a twenty minute drive from where I live, and it wasn’t really on my radar until I met a friend there. This park kicked off my curiosity about all of the other awesome local parks I must be missing out on. While it doesn’t have a splash pad, it has a terrific playground for kids of all ages, a pavilion, an amazing walking trail that goes a little over half a mile around the playground and an enormous field in the middle (4 soccer fields worth — perfect for kite flying), as well as a dog park!"
"If you’re with a real competitive crowd, take your picnic out to Victor Ashe. You’ll find sand volleyball, sports fields, and the most impressive disc golf course Knox County has to offer. Set up a picnic spot at one of their tables, and grab some fuel at the concession stand if you’re still hungry after a game."

"Once you’ve worked up a serious appetite for a proper brunch or early lunch at Sunspot, which you’ll find on Cumberland Avenue, just west of the University of Tennessee campus. If you’re there during the week, it doesn’t open until 11 am, but on weekends, brunch is served starting at 10. Wolf down some fried green tomatoes to start—a Southern specialty—and follow them up with the brunch burger or chicken and a waffle. Vegetarians won’t be disappointed by the Fat Elvis Breakfast Burrito, which is just as indulgent as it sounds."
"This spot made its RootsRated debut in our 8 Ways to Wile Away the Summer post, but we thought this stunning overlook was well-deserving of an encore. In South Knoxville at 1121 Cherokee Trail, you'll find a dirt parking lot near High Ground Park. Follow the gravel trail that begins in the lot all the way back through the River Bluff Wildlife Area to what is probably the most beautiful view of Knoxville."
