Walking Trails in Blowing Rock, North Carolina
"Moses H. Cone Memorial Park (blueridgeheritage.com), three miles northwest of Blowing Rock, is just off of the Blue Ridge Parkway at milepost 294 and includes 25 miles of preserved carriage trails through the grounds of a former mountain estate owned by textile pioneer Moses Cone. The trails have various loops through the Blue Ridge wilderness, old apple orchards and past many native flowers and trees, including rhododendron, mountain laurel, hemlock, sugar maple and several species of oak, hickory, pine and birch. Most of the trails are multipurpose, also allowing horseback riders and even occasional cross-country skiers during the winter months."
